But, it is possible to replace squealing with human speech with some guidance. As Yellow headed Amazon parrots are active they thrive in an environment which allows them to fly and move around. An aviary is a good enclosure but they may also adjust to indoor hutches provided that adequate daily exercise is offered by their owner. These parrots are also easily tamed and skilled. However, like most large parrot species, Yellow headed Amazons can be dangerous. Keepers should give their parrots plenty of chewing toys and braches.
These parrots may grow to the average length of fifteen inches though females are slightly smaller than males. Yellow headed Amazon parrots have a stout, hooked beak that isn't just used for breaking the hard shells of seeds and nuts but even for clasping, exploring, and climbing. They also use their feet to climb and it is almost like another hand for them. Amazons have two toes directed forwards and two toes directed backwards which make them perfect for grasping. They will make use of their toes to carry food while eating.
In the wild Yellow headed Amazons eat several different fruits, berries, nuts, blossoms, and leaf buds. They are also known to raid agricultural crops like maize. When residing in a home environment with an owner these birds enjoy veggies, fruit, seeds, nuts, cherries, and pellet food. Just like all parrots healthy eating plan is very important to their health and their lives.
When thinking of owning one of these beautiful birds as a pet, keepers must consider the longevity of their dedication. Yellow headed Amazon parrots may live to be sixty to eighty years of age. Though no pet is perfect, these parrots are sure to give their owners hours of enjoyment and pleasure.
